Reyt
Reyt grew out of the fictional operating-system games Salih made when he was younger. Revived as working software, it now runs as a Linux desktop environment that can also be used in the browser.

History
First of all, I love classic operating systems. I also love building structures for constructed worlds. From August 2012 until sometime in 2016, I made games that imitated operating systems. Then I stopped, as I grew older.
When large language models made it possible to vibe-code more complex systems, I thought of reviving Reyt. This time, I wanted to make a real operating system. That is the idea behind the web version: returning to something I used to build for imaginary worlds and making it work.
The desktop environment also grew out of a practical need. Each time I set up Linux, I found myself gathering the same tools and rebuilding the same configuration. I wanted an environment arranged around what I actually use. My fondness for Classic Mac OS shaped its appearance.
